Frequently asked questions
- Is this email signature generator really free?
- Yes. The generator needs no account, no email address and adds no watermark or branding to your signature. Email Signature Magic also has a $15-a-year plan for one person that writes your signature into Gmail and keeps it current — you can create an account and build it before you pay.
- Does the signature work in Gmail and Outlook?
- Yes. The signature is built as simple table-based HTML with inline styles, the format email apps handle most reliably. Use “Copy signature” and paste it into your signature settings; the steps for Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail are below.
- Can I upload my own photo?
- Yes. Upload a photo or logo and we shrink it to a small square so your signature stays light, then you can move and zoom it, choose a circle or square, and add a frame. You can also paste a link to an image that is already online. Email apps show images by loading them from a web address, which is why we host the uploaded copy for you.
- Can I add a handwritten signature?
- Yes. Open “Add a handwritten signature”, and the generator makes six script styles from your name in the ink you choose, or you can draw your own. It is added as a small transparent image under an optional closing line such as “Warm regards,”.
- Does the generator check whether my signature looks like spam?
- Yes. A checklist under the preview looks for the things mail filters dislike: images without alt text, too many links, link shorteners, oversized signatures and more, and tells you what to change. A full SpamAssassin score is available once you have an account.
- Will it look identical for every recipient?
- Very close, but email apps differ. Outlook on Windows uses a stricter renderer than Gmail and Apple Mail, so keep designs simple. Send yourself a test to Gmail and Outlook before you rely on it.
- Can I use it for real estate, with a license number?
- Yes. Tick “I'm a real estate agent” to add a license number field and the Equal Housing Opportunity line. Rules about what must appear in an agent's email vary by state, so check with your state real estate commission.
